🏆 The Title Race: Three Weeks to Go

After 32 gameweeks, Will Finney leads the Biddenham Fantasy League on 1902 points, with Mark Horton breathing down his neck on 1891 — just 11 points separating first from second. Chris Beeden is a further point back on 1890, and Louis Grimoldby remains in contention on 1868. The gap from first to fourth is 34 points. That's a single Haaland haul. With several gameweeks still to play, any one of these four could realistically lift the trophy — and whoever nails their captaincy in the run-in will almost certainly decide it.

⚡ GW32: Ed Evans Quietly Has His Moment

The gameweek winner was Ed Evans with 74 points — and he managed it despite captaining Haaland for a measly 2pts, exactly like most of the rest of the league. Ed's squad simply did enough everywhere else to outscore 28 rivals. Honourable mention to Georg Coakley, who rolled the dice on Igor Thiago as captain and was rewarded with 13 raw points — the best captain return of the entire gameweek. At the other end, Ekene Amadi scored just 37 points, Amy Bliss managed 35, and Callum Bowness notched 44 — a reminder that on a good week for the league, someone always has a very bad one.

🃏 Wildcard Wednesday — Five Chips, One Gameweek

GW32 saw an unprecedented flurry of wildcard activity. Olly Barnes, Mike Flynn, Cathy Eckett-Brown, Alan Eckett-Brown, and David Bailey all played their wildcard in the same gameweek. Five of the league's 29 managers going nuclear simultaneously. The results were mixed at best: Olly scored 48pts (4th from bottom), Mike Flynn got 50, Cathy 51, Alan 55, and David Bailey 51. The combined wildcarding of five squads produced nothing extraordinary. The chip, in aggregate, mostly shrugged.

🎸 Phil Johnson & Bruno Fernandes: 31 Weeks and Counting

After GW32, Phil Johnson has now captained Bruno Fernandes in 31 of 32 gameweeks. The one blemish on the record: Ollie Watkins in GW1, who returned 2 points, presumably sending Phil directly to Bruno and never looking back. Bruno has since repaid the faith with returns of -1pt, three consecutive 0-point weeks (GWs 18–20), and enough middling performances to keep Phil hovering at 23rd overall on 1571 points. And yet: Phil has won the mini-league gameweek outright 4 times this season — more than any other manager. The Bruno system, maddening as it is, occasionally produces something magnificent. Phil's squad is also the most consistently scored in the league (lowest standard deviation: 12.6), so the chaos is, somehow, also calm.

🐉 George Foy and the Haaland Covenant

George Foy has captained Erling Haaland in 28 of 32 gameweeks — an 88% fidelity rate that puts every other Haaland devotee to shame. Emmy Rupasinghe (78%) and Ed Evans (75%) are committed, but George is operating on a different level of theological conviction. Haaland delivered 2 points in GW32. George scored 49pts and sits 12th overall on 1717 points. The faith remains unshaken. It will remain unshaken forever.

🪑 David Bailey's Bench: A Season in Mourning

David Bailey has now left 405 points on his bench over 32 gameweeks — comfortably the most in the league, 78 points clear of second-placed Hayley Phelan (327pts). Had those points counted, Bailey's total would be approximately 2,107 points — which would place him roughly 200 points clear at the top of the table. Instead he sits 15th on 1702. His bench is playing a better season than most managers' starting XIs. This season, David Bailey has been two managers: one excellent, one invisible, and only one of them is scoring.

📈 Mark Horton's Redemption Arc Continues

Mark Horton started this season ranked 6,908,093rd in the world. After GW32 he is 153,720th. He has climbed 6.75 million places globally since GW1, gained another 80,000 this week, and sits 3rd in the mini-league just 11 points off the top. He has the best captain-vs-field record in the league. He took a Triple Captain on Haaland in GW13 (got 6pts like everyone else), then quietly went on one of the great recovery runs in Biddenham Fantasy League history. Whatever he is doing, it is working.

🎢 James Marshall: FPL's Most Dangerous Man

James Marshall is the most volatile manager in the league with a standard deviation of 18.8 points — the highest of anyone. His season minimum is 21 points. His season maximum is 117 points, the single highest score recorded in the BFL all season. He is equally capable of winning a gameweek and finishing dead last. Every week with James is a mystery box. He currently sits 17th overall on 1689pts, which feels both too low for his highs and too high for his lows.

🏥 The Wooden Spoon Files — Amy Bliss

Amy Bliss of Bliss United FC has now finished last in the gameweek 9 times this season — more than any other manager. Her season low is a breathtaking 10 points in GW21. She sits last overall on 1281pts with an average of 40.0 per week, and her global overall rank of 10,970,864 puts her in the bottom fraction of FPL's 11 million players. She is also, to her enormous credit, still here, still picking a team, still captaining Salah (who gave her 8pts in GW32 — her best captain return of the week). There is something admirable about that.

🗓️ Chips: Who Has What Left

With the season entering its final stretch, chip availability is becoming critical. Louis Grimoldby and Hayley Phelan have both used 7 chips across the season — the most profligate chip deployers in the league. At the other extreme, Ali Smith has used just a single chip all season (TC in GW13, Haaland, 6pts — tough start). Shannon H has also used only one. Dan Birkinshaw and Ed Evans have been similarly conservative, with three chips each. Whether that restraint proves wise or wasted in the final gameweeks remains to be seen.

Dan Birkinshaw continues to be the league's most adventurous captain picker, having deployed 13 different captain choices across 32 gameweeks — far more than anyone else. João Pedro this week. Hugo Ekitiké in GW19 (for TC). Nick Woltemade. The road less travelled, every single week. Dan sits 25th on 1559pts. The experiment is ongoing.
